Motorists plying the Bunyala-Westlands route on the Nairobi Expressway will enjoy toll-free passage tonight as the Moja Expressway Company concludes a two-day temporary diversion arrangement.
Under this special window, scheduled to run from 9:00 p.m. tonight, Friday, May 8, 2026, until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, May 9, drivers entering at Haile Selassie Entrance A (Bunyala) will not be charged upon exiting at Westlands, though they are still required to pick up an entry ticket.
The arrangement, which also ran on Thursday, May 7, during the same hours, is tied to ongoing construction along Waiyaki Way between the GTC and ICEA Lion Group buildings.
How the toll-free route works
To benefit from the arrangement, motorists must enter the expressway via the designated entry point, Haile Selassie Entrance A, at the Bunyala roundabout.
While the passage is free, the standard procedure remains in place: drivers must collect an entry ticket at the Bunyala roundabout station. This ticket will be used to process the free exit at the Westlands terminus.

Moja Expressway has clarified that this arrangement is exclusive to this specific route.
Standard tolling fees will continue to apply to all other entry and exit points, and any vehicle exiting at a station other than Westlands will be required to pay the full toll amount.
What motorists should expect
To manage the expected influx of traffic, marshals will be deployed along the diversion route to guide motorists.
The company has urged drivers to remain alert, follow all temporary traffic signage, and heed the instructions of personnel on-site through the night-time window.
The temporary measure is necessitated by ongoing construction works on the lower deck of Waiyaki Way.
Specifically, the works are concentrated on the stretch between the Global Trade Centre (GTC) and the ICEA Lion Group buildings.
