Businessman and politician Alex Kidake has broken his silence about the breakdown of his marriage, publicly acknowledging infidelity and accepting full responsibility for the separation from his wife.
In a deeply personal statement shared on social media, Kidake said he had kept the separation private for over a year, not out of shame, but because he considered it too personal for public consumption.
Politics Pulled Kidake Away From Family
He and Caroline Muthoni had been together for 25 years, raising three children together, until things changed in 2024.
Kidake pointed to his entry into politics in 2021 as the moment things began to unravel when he poured time, energy and attention into political life that rightfully belonged to his family.
“In the process, I made mistakes that included involvement with other women. I know I was the problem,” he wrote, a rare admission that drew wide attention online.
He described Caroline not simply as a wife but as a business strategist, confidant and adviser whose sharp financial mind helped shape many of the decisions that built their shared life.
What Kidake Lost
He recalled calling her more than ten times a day just to think through problems, and said celebrating achievements felt different when she was beside him.
Kidake reflected on what her absence had taught him, saying there is a space a wife creates in a man’s life that no amount of money can fill.
He acknowledged that Caroline had forgiven him far more times than he deserved, and had fought for their marriage while he repeatedly let her down.
He noted that even after the separation, she had tracked down doctors and followed up on his recovery when he fell ill, which he said revealed the kind of woman she truly is.
Kidake’s Regrets
He said his focus now is not on convincing anyone of anything, but on becoming a better man and, if circumstances allow, rebuilding what was broken.
He added that he does not know whether they will find their way back to each other, but that he would respect whatever decision Caroline makes.
“Money is good. Success is good. Politics is temporary. Businesses can be rebuilt. Assets can be replaced. But family is everything,” he wrote.
