A Nairobi man who publicly opened up about regretting a youthful decision to install silver teeth has received a life-changing gift: a complete dental makeover, offered entirely for free by a dentist who saw his story online.
MC Kiongozi, who shares his life on TikTok, described in a candid video how peer pressure in his younger years led him to fit 12 silver teeth, a choice he said was driven by the desire to belong to the wrong crowd.
“I wanted to impress people who do not also understand themselves,” he said. “Now I interact with people who can help me grow, and it’s hard because they view me differently because of my teeth. Some people and even family think I am still a thief, and my identity and life have been messed up by them.”
What made undoing the decision so difficult was the physical and financial reality involved. Before silver caps are fitted, a patient’s natural teeth are trimmed down, meaning removal leaves behind sharp stubs that must be crowned to restore a normal appearance.
A dentist quoted Kiongozi a discounted rate of KSh 5,000 per tooth, but with 12 teeth requiring attention, the combined figure stood at KSh 60,000, a cost he described as well beyond his reach.
His videos, however, reached the right person at the right time.
Doctor Wachira Offers Kiongozi a New Smile
Doctor Wachira from Silverline Dental watched the story unfold online and decided to carry out the full crowning procedure at no charge. Within days of Kiongozi’s videos gaining traction, the work was under way.
On October 19, Kiongozi attended his final check-up and shared a heartfelt message expressing his gratitude for the transformation.
“This is my final checkup and care guys. I want to thank Silverline Dental and God for all they have done for me. Now, as you can see, I have my smile back. They have done this for me for free, willingly, and I am very grateful, and now I do not have to wear a mask anymore,” he said.
He also posted footage documenting the entire journey, from the removal of the silver teeth through to the fitting of his new crowns, giving followers a full picture of the process that restored his confidence.
