Police in Gigiri are investigating a case of murder and suicide after a woman in Githogoro area near Runda allegedly killed her three children before taking her own life on Tuesday morning.

The woman, identified as Monica, allegedly killed her children using bedsheets and later hanged herself inside the house.

The bodies were found by her husband, who returned home from a night shift and alerted the neighbours, who called the police.

Gigiri Deputy Police Commander Fredrick Alata says they recovered a suicide note from the house, which they are probing to determine the author and the motive of the unfortunate event.

The four bodies are lying at the Kenyatta Teaching and Referral Morgue ahead of a postmortem exercise.
