A 50-year-old man lost his life after he burnt to death within Mukuru Slums in Nairobi County.

The man identified as Mr Musembi Wambua is said to have been trapped by the fire.

Nairobi County police boss Adamson Bungei said that the cause of the fire had not been immediately established.

“It left many people homeless but it was contained after some minutes. The main cause is yet to be known,” he said.

He said that a fire brigade team from Nairobi County managed to put off the fire.

The remains of Wambua were taken to the City Mortuary where an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted.

Meanwhile, in Pangani Area, two men were on the night of Tuesday, June 11, 2023, crushed to death by a heap of glass panes as they were offloading them from a container.

Police say that four men had been hired to offload the glasses by the management of a warehouse located in Ushirika Refu Area. They had agreed on a Sh1,200 pay each.

The two men who lost their lives were identified by the police as Mr Jeremiah Wambua and Mr Peter Muiruri.

They had not finished the job when the tragedy happened.

Immediately the glasses crushed on them people tried to rescue them in vain leading to their death.

Mr Bungei said that he was alerted of what was happening after police arrived at the scene where the two lost their lives.

“Two men who were trying to get bread for their families died in the incident. We are investigating the tragedy,” he said.

The two bodies were then moved to the City Mortuary by police officers. It is at the morgue where an autopsy will take place.

Police visited the scene of the incident as part of the probe into the tragedy.
