Naivas FC  extended their lead atop the National Super League after edging out fourth-placed Nairobi United 2 – 0 in a match played at M-Pesa Foundation grounds.

Robert Karisa scored a brace to keep his side two points above second-placed Mathare who won 2- 0 against Mombasa Elite.

Elsewhere in Mombasa, Mombasa Stars stretched their unbeaten run to three games after seeing off Gusii FC 2 – 1 at Mbaraki Stadium.

Emmanuel Nyamawi and Joel Kihara scored for Mombasa Stars while Bill Okite gave the visitors a consolation goal.

Emanuel Nyamawi scored in the third minute for the home team after beating an offside trap to tap the ball past Gusii FC goalkeeper Bernard Otieno.

Mombasa Stars dominated most of the first quarter before Gusii registered a first attack in the 18th minute, Kepha Andati failing to connect a Wickliffe Abuga free kick.

The away team settled well into the game forcing Mombasa Stars into mistakes but failing to get an equaliser through Ratemo Joshua and Kevin Osongo’s wasted chances.

Gusii’s consistent pressure paid off in the last kick of first half, after Bill Okite’s 40-yard shot went past Mombasa Stars goalkeeper Said Dhadho.
