A Kenyan man from Subukia known as James Mwanzia has opened up about living with paralysis caused by spinal tuberculosis, sharing an emotional account of his recovery that has resonated with many followers online.

James disclosed that he was diagnosed with spinal TB that destroyed the discs in his spine at the L4-L5 vertebrae.

Long Road Back to Standing

The damage left him without any sensation or control below the waist, including the loss of proper bowel function.

“There were moments when I felt like I had lost everything, but God has continued to give me strength,” he wrote in a heartfelt post addressed to his friends and followers.

Rather than retreat into silence, James chose to document his recovery publicly from the very beginning, saying he does not hide his condition.

He described the journey as deeply difficult but sustained by faith and the encouragement of people around him.

Journey Is Not Over

The breakthrough he shared is one that he has clearly fought hard for. He can now stand and walk with the aid of a walker, a milestone he acknowledged with both gratitude and realism.

He noted that his weight has not been increasing as he had hoped, and that there are still days when he feels defeated.

Even so, he said he pushes back against those feelings by reminding himself how far he has already come.

James ended his message not with finality, but with resolve. He said he believes there is still more ahead of him and urged others facing hardship to hold on to the same conviction.

“Life is a journey. Keep fighting, keep believing, and never give up,” he wrote.

He also took a moment to thank everyone who had supported him throughout his recovery, saying their contributions had been a genuine blessing to him.

His openness about a condition that carries social stigma in many communities, combined with the raw honesty of his words, has made his post deeply moving.

For James, the walker is not a symbol of limitation but of progress, and he is clearly not done yet.
