Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and his wife, Sheila Sang, enjoyed a relaxed getaway in Mwanza, Tanzania, a day after attending the wedding of President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene, and Tanzanian entrepreneur Isaya Yunge
On Saturday, November 7, 2026, Sang shared photographs of the couple strolling hand-in-hand and posing near Mwanza’s distinctive granite rock formations along the shores of Lake Victoria.
Captioning the photos, the governor wrote: “A dry Kalenjin man with his person in Mwanza…”
Sang wore a patterned short-sleeved shirt, beige trousers and a light hat, while Sheila appeared in a striped summer dress. The two smiled as they posed against the lakeside scenery.
Leaders and spouses join getaway
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and his wife, Gladys Wanjiru, were also part of the getaway, alongside President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto.
The leaders and their spouses spent time together in Mwanza following the wedding celebrations, offering a glimpse of their activities away from official engagements.
Their visit followed Charlene and Yunge’s white wedding held on Friday, November 6, at Malaika Beach Resort on the shores of Lake Victoria.
President Ruto and First Lady Rachel attended the ceremony, with the Head of State and his wife escorting their daughter down the aisle. Several Kenyan leaders also travelled to Tanzania for the celebration.
A break after the wedding
Mwanza, popularly known as Rock City, is recognised for its granite rock formations and expansive views of Lake Victoria.
The lakeside setting provided a scenic backdrop for the leaders and their spouses to unwind after the wedding festivities.
Sang’s photographs captured a more personal side of the governor, showing him spending time with his wife away from official duties.
The outing also offered a glimpse into the lighter moments shared by the Kenyan delegation after attending one of the region’s high-profile family celebrations.
