Napoli made it clear on Monday that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is not available for transfer, despite the efforts of his agent to secure a move away from the club, reportedly to Paris Saint-Germain.
In a statement posted on social media early Monday morning, Napoli emphasized that “the player is under contract with the club for another three years. Kvaratskhelia is not for sale.”
Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, stated on Georgian television channel Sport Imedi on Sunday that “the priority is finalizing a transfer with a club that plays in the Champions League.
” Meanwhile, his father, Badri, expressed his desire for his son to move on from Napoli, particularly after the team’s disappointing season, during which they finished 10th in Serie A and underwent managerial changes.
However, Napoli asserted, “it’s not agents or fathers who decide the future of players under contract with Napoli but Napoli!!! End of story.” Kvaratskhelia, who played a significant role in Napoli’s 2023 league title win, is set to feature in Georgia’s first-ever match in a major international tournament on Tuesday, facing Turkey in Group F at Euro 2024.
Napoli’s recent appointment of former Italy, Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte signals their intention to rebound from their poor performance. Conte reportedly aims to retain 23-year-old Kvaratskhelia, especially with the likelihood of losing striker Victor Osimhen this summer.
