A night guard was found murdered in the Dina area, Webuye constituency.

The identity of the man, who was 23 years old, is yet to be disclosed by the police.

Alex Masika, a resident, said traders found the body near a car wash on Tuesday morning.

“This is a place that is generally safe, so we are shocked. The guard was brutally murdered,” he said.

The car wash is a few kilometres from the police station.

Masika called on Nyumba Kumi representatives to be vigilant to ensure cases of insecurity are dealt with.

He called for speedy investigations into the motive behind the murder.

Eliud Barasa, another resident, urged police to be quick in responding to cases of insecurity.

“It’s a cause for concern because we sometimes find officers are quicker to respond to cases such as a crackdown on alcohol, rather than insecurity,” he said.

Wilfred Atichi, a resident, said it is unfortunate that the life of a young man who was trying to make a living was cut short.

“There are many youths who are engaged in crime, but this man chose to look for a job, only for his life to be cut short. Action needs to be taken,” he said.
