Njugush Treats Nairobians Boarding His Super Metro Matatus with Free Fare: “Customer Service Week”

‎Popular Kenyan comedian Timothy Kimani, widely known as Njugush, has been giving his fans yet another reason to love him this time by treating passengers boarding his Super Metro matatu, Toria, to complimentary rides in what he dubbed “customer service week.”

‎Njugush rose to fame through his comedy skits and has built a sizeable following both online and on screen.

Beyond the laughs, he and his ex-wife Celestine Ndinda, known to fans as Wakavinye, have quietly built a transport business that has drawn considerable attention.

‎Inside Njugush’s Matatu business

The two Super Metro matatus that operate on the busy Nairobi-Kitengela route, and each vehicle carries a personal touch both are named after their sons.

‎The first, Tugi, was launched in April 2024 and is a 33-seater Isuzu NQR. By mid-2026, Tugi had received a full aesthetic overhaul, complete with custom Darth Vader graphics, a red, grey, and blue exterior, and an interior fitted with ambient LED lighting and ceiling murals, transforming it into a proper nganya.

‎Their second matatu, Toria, followed in February 2025, named after their younger son. It is Toria that has been at the centre of the latest buzz online, with a promotional video of the colourfully decorated vehicle circulating widely.

Shot on a busy Kenyan street, the footage shows the matatu’s elaborate graffiti-style artwork up close, with on-screen text advertising the vehicle for hire at 0741 276 118

Free fare and the Njugush effect

Part of what has kept the story alive is Njugush’s approach to promoting the business. He reportedly offered free fare to any passenger who spotted him near the matatu, a move very much in keeping with his community-oriented public persona.

The stunt drew smiles and chatter in equal measure, with many Kenyans praising the gesture as a refreshing bit of goodwill on one of Nairobi’s most hectic commuter corridors.

‎The couple’s transition from personal vehicles into the public service vehicle sector has been widely noted as a smart business pivot, with the Nairobi-Kitengela route being one of the more lucrative runs in the city’s transport network.

‎It is worth noting that Njugush and Celestine have since parted ways and filed for divorce, meaning the matatu venture is one they built together during their marriage.

‎Despite the personal developments, both vehicles remain in operation and continue to be a talking point among Nairobians and fans alike.
