Nyaberi links Fortune Sacco slump to crushed promotion hopes

Fortune Sacco head coach Vincent Nyaberi has attributed his side’s recent struggles to a loss of motivation among players following the team’s failure to remain in the race for promotion.

‎The club has gone three consecutive matches without a victory, a run that has seen them slip further away from the battle for a top-three finish.

According to Nyaberi, the disappointment of losing to 3K and missing out on a chance to earn promotion to the top tier affected the squad’s mindset and performances on the pitch.

‎”Since we lost to 3K, the players lost morale after realizing that we were no longer in contention for the top three positions, which would have given us a chance to move up to the Premier League,” Nyaberi told Citizen Digital.

‎Despite the recent setback, the coach remains optimistic that the team can finish the campaign on a positive note. He has pledged to work on restoring confidence and motivation within the squad ahead of the final two matches of the season.

Fortune Sacco currently occupy seventh place in the league standings with 57 points. While promotion is no longer within reach, Nyaberi believes the team still has enough to play for as they seek to end the season strongly.

‎Their immediate focus will be on this weekend’s clash against Gucha Stars, where they will be aiming to snap their three-match winless streak and return to winning ways.

‎A victory against Gucha Stars would not only boost the team’s position in the standings but also provide a morale lift as they prepare for the final stretch of the campaign.

‎Meanwhile, Migori Youth are a win away from securing promotion to the Kenyan Premier League next season, leading the standings with 77 points, followed by 3K FC with 73 points. Mombasa United are placed third in the National Super League standings with 72 points.

‎The bottom three sides are; MCF FC, Vihiga United and Mwatate United with 31, 29 and 22 points respectively.
