Residents of Nyandarua County have been urged to collaborate with authorities in an effort to address the rising crime rates, particularly cattle rustling. The most recent incident occurred in Engineer, prompting concern among local leaders.
Governor Kiarie Badilisha and Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku have both criticized the security forces for their perceived laxity in handling the situation. They expressed concerns over the overall security in the county, citing an increase in cattle theft as well as reports of illicit brew being circulated in various areas.
The leaders have called for the immediate transfer of police officers stationed at Engineer police station, blaming them for inadequate responses to the growing threats.
In response, County Commissioner Abdirizak Jaldesa urged for a united approach, emphasizing the need for joint efforts between residents and law enforcement to tackle the crime surge effectively.
