Police in Embakasi, Nairobi County are investigating an incident where a political leader was assaulted by a man identified as Livingston Atwoli.

Keya Mukoto, said that he was assaulted by Atwoli, who he said has been his friend for years.

“Good people, I have been assaulted by someone I have known for a long time Livingston Atwoli, I am bleeding badly and I am driving in a Mercedes Benz KBL 983V should you see me your way please take me to a hospital! If I die just know I have been killed by Livingston Maasai,” Mukoto said in a statement.

Mukoto also shared on his social media some of the images which showed that his white shirt was covered with blood.

He further said that he received help from friends who rushed him to the hospital where he received treatment.

“Thank you all who reached out both physically, by call and through Facebook. I have been treated and discharged and I feel better now. I thank God that the attempted murder and assault did not materialize,” Mukoto further said in a statement.

He said that he would ensure that nobody else would suffer at the hands of Atwoli.

Nairobi News has established that Mukoto reported the matter at Embakasi Police Station and it was recorded under Occurrence Book (OB) number 91/13/01/2024. He reported the matter at 11:56 am.

When we went to press, we attempted to contact Atwoli for comment through two phone calls, both of which went unanswered. Additionally, our text message seeking his response was ignored.

Officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) are currently investigating the matter after they reached out to Mukoto.

However, two days after the incident, the suspect is yet to be arrested.
