Police officers in Kisumu have repelled a team of protesters who were trying to gain access to the Kisumu State Lodge.

In videos seen by Citizen Digital, the protestors were approaching the premise on motorbikes when officers were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse them.

Roads leading to the premise were later barricaded, forcing protesters to retreat.

The protests have been witnessed in parts of the country, all being marred by chaos and wrangles between police officers and protesters.

In Nairobi, a few of politicians leading a team of protesters were arrested among them Ugunja MP and Opiyo Wandayi and Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo.

The chaos has also been witnessed in Kitale, Kibera, parts of Ngong Road and other areas.
