Poland’s star striker Robert Lewandowski left the field injured after 32 minutes during their final Euro 2024 warm-up match against Turkey in Warsaw on Monday. Earlier in the match, his strike partner Karol Swiderski of Hellas Verona had already exited after injuring his right ankle while celebrating his goal that gave Poland a 12th-minute lead.
Poland, who will start their Euro 2024 campaign against the Netherlands on June 16, have also lost Juventus striker Arkadiusz Milik. Milik was injured in a match against Ukraine on Friday and subsequently “underwent selective arthroscopic meniscectomy surgery on the medial meniscus of his left knee,”
Juventus announced on Monday, without providing a timeline for his recovery. The club added that he would start rehabilitation immediately with the goal of resuming competitive play as soon as possible.
Poland is placed in Group D at Euro 2024, where they will face the Netherlands, Austria, and France. Lewandowski, Poland’s captain, has scored 82 goals in 149 games for his country. At 35, he is set to participate in his fourth European Championship.
