Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has finally met the man Kenyans have been calling his twin, in a moment that quickly captured attention online.

The encounter took place at an Abagusii community gathering in Seattle, Washington, where Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, had stopped as part of a broader tour engaging Kenyan diaspora communities across the United States.

What happened when Gachagua met his lookalike?

Both men showed up in matching energy, each wearing a hat that only made their resemblance more uncanny.

Gachagua wasted no time getting acquainted, asking his lookalike where he hailed from and what he had been up to in the US.

The two shared hearty laughs and handshakes throughout, with Pastor Dorcas staying close by, smiling and clearly enjoying the wholesome exchange.

The footage from the gathering spread fast, with Kenyans tickled by just how closely the two men mirror each other in facial features, build and even mannerisms.

The doppelgänger first caught the internet’s attention in mid-August 2026, when a video of him at a Kenyan diaspora festival in Seattle began circulating widely.

Viewers were immediately struck by his resemblance to the former deputy president, from his facial structure and smile to his physical build. What really sealed the deal, however, was his performance.

The man leaned into the comparisons by imitating Gachagua’s distinctive speaking style and throwing out recognisable political phrases, including the crowd-favourite “Wantam”

He even wore a cowboy hat, a style closely associated with Gachagua’s public image. Kenyans ran with it.

The nickname “Riggy G Junior” stuck almost immediately, and many jokingly referred to him as Gachagua’s long-lost son.

The clip spread across social media platforms and WhatsApp groups, sparking endless commentary about the striking physical similarities between the two.

His viral moment eventually set the stage for what many online had been jokingly demanding: an actual meeting with the man himself. When that meeting finally happened in Seattle, it felt like the internet had come full circle.
