Eleven human rights activists and Mombasa-based radio journalists have been freed after spending the night in police custody.

The activists held a peaceful protest outside the central police station after their release accusing the police of assaulting them.

Coast Civil Society chairman Zedekiah Adika said they would challenge their arrest in court on Monday.
