Socialite Sheriffa Wambui, aka Manzi wa Kibera, is mourning the loss of her former partner Peter Nzioki.
The father of three passed away on Sunday, April 21.
Speaking to Nairobi News, Manzi wa Kibera, who currently resides in Mombasa, revealed that she was informed of his illness on Thursday, April 18.
She confirmed that the 67-year-old passed away on Sunday morning, April 21.
“For those who do not believe this news, wataenda (should go to) City Mortuary kumuona (to see him). He is there and I am so heartbroken. I can’t give any more information at the moment because I’m in Mombasa. He is a father of three and his family has everything under control,” she said on the phone.
The relationship between Nzioki and Manzi wa Kibera has often been viewed with scepticism, with many speculating that it was merely a publicity stunt due to their significant age difference.
Despite the initial scepticism, the couple denied the rumours and confirmed their relationship, later announcing that they had married.
This turned out to be a gimmick as Manzi Wa Kibera released a song.
However, in January, Nzioki publicly accused Manzi wa Kibera of using him and then leaving him.
Their last public photo together was shared on December 30, 2023.
Manzi wa Kibera later introduced a new partner for 2024, captioning her official Instagram photo ‘New year, new catch’.
In a subsequent video shared online, Nzioki appeared to be struggling emotionally and financially following their split.
He lamented the loss of all his household items, and expressed his distress at his current living conditions.
“They took all my household items, I am not well, my mind is troubled. Manzi wa Kibera has left me. I used to go out with her but now she doesn’t even want to see me,” he said.
May his soul rest in peace.
