Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he is now a better person after he left Manchester United.

Ronaldo left the Red Devils in January this year following his controversial interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan where he revealed the club’s internal affairs in public.

Speaking in an interview in Portugal, ahead of their international break, the striker admitted that he had a bad period in his football career while at United.

“Sometimes, you have to go through other things to see who is on your side. I have no problem saying, I had a bad period, but there is no time for regret,” he said.

The 38-year-old striker noted that his football career is going well at the moment and said that his bad period at Manchester United was part of his growth.

“When we are on top of the mountain, we often cannot see what is below. Now, I am more prepared and learned something that was important, because I never experienced this, like in the last few months. Now I am a better person,” he said.
