A weeks-long search for the truth about Baby Emilan’s late mother has reached a turning point after DNA analysis confirmed Dennis Ndongola as the biological father of Ruth Ndongola.
The results, processed at the KEMRI-HID Laboratory, officially prove Dennis is Baby Emilan’s maternal grandfather.
How DNA Results Were Established
DNA tests indicated a 99.99% probability of paternity, providing scientific certainty to a relationship that had previously been supported only through testimonies and community-level investigations.
The process began with a postmortem examination carried out by Government Chief Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor, during which biological samples were collected from both Ruth and Dennis.
According to former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, while the results carry immense significance, the DNA and postmortem reports will not be released to the public.
The decision was guided by considerations of medical ethics, privacy and respect for the dignity of the deceased and her family.
Ruth Ndongola’s Burial Preparations Begin
The conclusion of the examination has instead been communicated as formal confirmation of the family relationship.
Ruth’s body has been held at the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary throughout the period of uncertainty, as those supporting her daughter worked to trace her relatives and establish her identity.
With that process now complete, a family meeting is underway to settle on a date and location for the burial, meaning Ruth can soon be returned to her community for a dignified farewell. For Baby Emilan, the confirmation brings the painful search to a close.
She will now be able to say her goodbyes knowing that her mother’s roots and family connections have been firmly established.
