Kenyan actress and content creator Sandra Dacha has spoken out for the first time since undergoing surgery last month, addressing both her recovery and the wave of comments about her weight loss.
Concern for Dacha had been building for weeks.
In October, Kenya Fans Association chairman Shem Okottah personally visited her to show solidarity, with the association sharing a photo of the two on Tuesday, October 20.
In the image, Dacha, a passionate Gor Mahia supporter, appeared in good spirits despite her health challenges.
The situation took a more serious turn on November 1, when she posted a video showing medical staff preparing her for an operation.
The clip showed clinicians escorting her into the theatre before administering anaesthesia. She chose not to disclose the nature of the procedure, leaving followers anxious and flooding her with well-wishes.
By Friday, November 6, Dacha had returned to Instagram Stories, posting multiple videos of herself, a low-key but reassuring signal to fans that she was recovering well. She did not make a formal statement about her health, but the footage spoke for itself.
She then turned her attention to a different kind of noise circulating online: remarks about her slimmer frame. In a candid post, the actress did not hold back.
“Apparently, I looked younger when I was bigger, and now I look old after losing weight. So basically, I was supposed to lose weight but retain the face and body of my former self?
Aki, you people are difficult! Mimi nilipunguza kilo, si umri,” she wrote, also sharing a series of throwback images from before her weight loss.
Followers were quick to respond, with reactions ranging from nostalgic to fiercely supportive.
