Saturday blackout to affect Nairobi, 4 other counties

Kenya Power has announced electricity interruptions scheduled for Saturday, December 16, affecting multiple areas in five different counties.

In a statement on Friday, December 15, the utility company revealed affected regions and the specific timings of the power outage.

In Nairobi County, several parts will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include parts of Eastern Bypass, RLC Reddamac Leather Centre, Southern Engineering, Southern Beer Factory, Stone Cutters Quarry, Wellkim C/Fact, Gulf Energy Petrol Station, Shell Petrol Station, Infinity Industrial Park, Vicken 30 Industrial Park, and adjacent customers.

Moving to the Western Region, parts of Vihiga County will be impacted, specifically in Luanda Town and Ebuyangu. The power interruption is scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents in Luanda Market, Essaba, Mukhalakhala, Ebwiranyi, Ebukolo, Epali, Ebulondi, Ebuyangu, Radio Anyole, Radio Samaritan, Rhodys, Ilonje, Ebukanga, Emmabwi, Asikote, Luanda KCB, Total Petrol, and adjacent areas will be affected during this time.

Siaya County, also in the Western Region, will witness a power outage in Siaya Town from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The entire town, along with Siaya Referral Hosp, Siaya Police Station, Siaya Country Club, Candela Hotel, Siaya Distinction Hotel, Siaya Center, White Hotel Siaya, and neighbouring locations will experience the interruption.

In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Kisii County, specifically in the Egesa Jokevilla area, will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This includes Jokevilla, Daraja Mbill Secondary School, KRA Nyabinge, Egesa, St Jude, and adjacent customers.

Additionally, in parts of Homabay County, which falls under the South Nyanza Region, Homabay Town, Asumbi, Homa Hills, Nyangweso, Ogande, Imbo, Olare, Rangwe, and part of Rock Kopany will experience a power interruption from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
