A search operation has been intensified at Kirandich Water Dam in Baringo County after a middle-aged man reportedly slipped into the water and went missing.
Police in Kabarnet said the man, identified as Jackson Koros from Kapkomoi village in Awalel Chap ward, was reported missing after visiting the dam with a group of youths on Sunday evening.
Relatives said they were later informed that Koros had slipped into the dam unnoticed.
His family said efforts to retrieve the body have been hampered by the high water levels caused by ongoing rains.
The missing man’s elder brother, Erck Koros, said the family sought help from divers from Cheploch but the search had not yielded results.
Divers from Cheploch, working with the county disaster unit, have since joined the operation as authorities urged members of the public to keep off the dam, which they said remains a restricted area.
