Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has mourned actor Charles Ouda who tragically passed away on February 2, 2024.

Orwoba, in her contribution to the Senate, also seized the opportunity to advocate for increased support for the creative industry, highlighting the need to honor and celebrate the contributions of artists.

The outspoken politician expressed her condolences to the deceased actor’s family and emphasised the need for the public and government to appreciate the creatives when they are still alive.

“The creative industry is not well celebrated,” she explained.

A former creative, Orwoba, extended an invitation to her colleagues to grace the actor’s final vigil.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba was among those who attended the vigil.

“It is time to try and look at how we send off our heroes,” she added.

The family of Charles Ouda, known affectionately as Charlie, will perform his final rites in Nairobi on February 15, 2024.

He will be cremated at the Kariokor cemetery.

“A church service will be held at All Saints Cathedral February 15, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by the last rites at Kariokor for immediate family members,” a statement from the deceased’s family reads in part.
