Kenyan passport holders can travel to Singapore without applying for a visa in advance, placing them among citizens of more than 160 countries who enjoy this benefit under one of the world’s most open border policies.
Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority structures its visa rules around a visa-required list of just 35 countries, rather than publishing a traditional visa-free list.
Any country absent from that list, covering the vast majority of the world’s roughly 195 recognised nations, qualifies for visa-free short visits.
Kenya is not on the restricted list, meaning its citizens can stay in Singapore for up to 30 days without prior visa approval.
What Kenyan Travellers Must Prepare
Visa-free access does not mean arriving empty-handed. Travellers must carry a passport that remains valid for at least six months from the date of arrival, with a minimum of two blank pages available.
Kenyans must also submit a Singapore Arrival Card through the ICA’s online system within three days before landing, a process that is free of charge.
Because Kenya is classified as a yellow fever risk country, travellers are required to present a valid International Certificate of Vaccination showing proof of yellow fever inoculation.
Beyond health documents, visitors need to show a confirmed return or onward flight booking, sufficient funds to cover their stay, and evidence of accommodation such as a hotel reservation.
Which African Countries Must Apply for a Visa
Not all African travellers share the same easy access. Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Tunisia are among the nations listed on Singapore’s visa-required register. Citizens of those countries must obtain a visa before departure.
Singapore does offer a limited workaround for some restricted nationals through a 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility.
This applies to nationals of India, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkmenistan and countries within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Indian nationals and holders of specific Chinese travel documents can also use the transit option if they already hold a valid visa or long-term pass, with at least one month of remaining validity, issued by countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States. Extensions under this transit facility are not permitted under any circumstances.
For travellers from the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea and most of ASEAN, entry into Singapore remains similarly uncomplicated, with no visa application required for short visits.
