Two suspects have been arrested after they were found possessing a vehicle that is believed to have been fraudulently acquired.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Mohamed Amin, 26, and his passenger, Ahmed Abdulahi Hajji, 22, were arrested following an intelligence-led operation in Moyale town.

During the operation, detectives intercepted the white Toyota Prado, registration number KAR 555M, as assessments established that the vehicle’s chassis number did not correspond with the registration details held by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Detectives say the discrepancy raised suspicion that the vehicle had been tampered with or fraudulently registered.

A further search of the vehicle led to the recovery of an empty pistol magazine and a pistol holster, both concealed in a glove, as well as rolls of bhang.

The suspects remain in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment.
