Tanzanian influencer Chief Godlove has expressed admiration for Kenyan filmmaking after watching the Netflix film Mvera, describing it as a powerful production that reflects real-life African struggles and highlights the strength of African storytelling.

Speaking in a TikTok video on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Godlove noted that although he does not regularly watch films due to his busy schedule, he recently found himself with free time and decided to watch the movie, which he came across on Netflix.

He said the film immediately caught his attention, praising its storyline and its depiction of issues affecting many Africans, particularly those who dream of travelling abroad in search of better opportunities.

“Kenyans, wow. By the way again, I am a Tanzanian, but I appreciate Kenya so much. Alongside a few dramatic stories, Kenya is great. And one thing I have liked even more, which makes me say that, is this Netflix movie I have come across called Mvera. I am not a person who watches movies a lot because I am sometimes very busy looking for money. But today I came home, and I was idle and I decided to watch something, and I only came upon this movie called Mvera,” he said.

According to him, Mvera explores the challenges faced by individuals who are lured by promises of overseas jobs, only to fall victim to deception, exploitation, and in some cases, human trafficking networks involved in organ harvesting and other forms of abuse.

He added that while such incidents may not always be visible in everyday life, they remain real issues affecting many people across the continent.

“I liked it also because it speaks to and depicts real life situations facing many Tanzanians. The movie is a bit about Africans who aspire to go abroad because of the hard life in Africa,” Chief said.

The influencer further commended the film for highlighting broader African realities, including the emotional and psychological struggles faced by young people navigating economic hardship and desperation for better opportunities abroad.

He also noted that the production reflects deeper cultural and spiritual themes, pointing to what he described as African strength and ancestral spiritual connections portrayed in the storyline.

“But the agents that promise them jobs abroad first put them into shame and they end up being scammed or even having their organs harvested or worse things. These things exist but we may not see them,” he added.

Godlove contrasted the film with productions from his home country, suggesting that he had not previously encountered similar storytelling depth in Tanzanian cinema, while still maintaining appreciation for Kenya’s growing creative industry.

He went on to describe Kenya as a country with strong creative output, despite what he referred to as occasional dramatic narratives circulating online, saying the country remains impressive in its artistic and cultural production.

“I appreciate it and to be honest I have never seen Tanzanians produce this kind of movie. This movie has also explained the powers we have as Africans, as well as the spiritual ones we receive from our ancestors,” he said.
