The ongoing court battle between businessman Tash, also known as Hiram, and Pastor Victor Kanyari’s family has taken a fresh turn after Tash took to the stand to challenge several claims made by the controversial pastor.

A video of his testimony, widely shared across Instagram and picked up by Nairobi Juice, has sparked fresh debate among Kenyans, particularly around the alleged KSh 90 million mansion that Kanyari had been publicly associating with his grandchildren’s home.

Mansion is in Kimbo, not Runda

Tash flatly denied that the property Kanyari had been referencing on social media is situated in Runda, one of Nairobi’s most exclusive neighbourhoods. According to him, the house is located in the Kimbo, Daykio area along Thika Road in Kiambu County.

“Haiko Runda, iko Kimbo Daykio,” he said in court, insisting that the children had only visited the property to create content and had since returned to their actual home.

Many Kenyans online interpreted Kanyari’s earlier claims as an attempt to appear wealthy, with several questioning whether the Runda narrative was simply clout chasing.

Custody, funds and allegations

Beyond the property dispute, Tash addressed a string of other serious issues during his testimony. He denied ever blocking the pastor from seeing his grandchildren, stating that he has video footage proving he handed the children over on multiple occasions.

On the question of finances, Tash revealed that following the burial of his late wife, a meeting was held to establish a joint trust account for funds the children received from both the Deputy President and the President.

He accused Kanyari of misrepresenting what happened at that meeting to the public.

Tash also touched on the most sensitive allegation hanging over him: that he was responsible for his wife’s death.

He acknowledged the accusation but noted that the home where she passed away remains an active crime scene, currently under investigation by authorities.

He added that the children have expressed feeling unsafe, which he said explains why he has been cautious about their access arrangements.

Pastor Kanyari, whose flamboyant lifestyle and bold property claims have long kept him in public conversation, is yet to respond to the specific assertions Tash made in court. The case continues.
