Athletics Kenya has announced the final roster of 59 athletes who will represent the nation at the 23rd Africa Senior Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place from June 21 to June 26, 2024, in Douala, Cameroon. The team consists of 26 female and 33 male athletes. According to a statement from the athletics governing body, all selected athletes are required to report for camp on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
This championship presents an opportunity for the athletes to showcase their talent and bring glory to Kenya on a continental stage. The athletes will likely be competing in various track and field events, aiming to build on Kenya’s storied history in athletics. Stanley Waithaka: 2022 World 5000m silver medalist
Mary Ekiru Nyaruai: African Games 1500m champion
Brian Komen: Male counterpart in the 1500m event
Caroline Nyaga: Africa 5000m champion
Mark Otieno:Former national 100m record holder
Teresiah Gateri:2021 World Under 20 3000m champion

Mr. Stephen Mugea Etyang, chairman of Athletics Kenya NPS, and head coach Julius Kirwa will lead the team at the championships, which will also serve as a qualifying event for the Paris Olympics. The athletes are scheduled to report for the residential training camp on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
