After social media leaks of the foldable device from TECNO, the company has confirmed its launch on February 28th.

The new smartphone is the TECNO Phantom V Fold and has already been leaked in a hands-on video on social media.

The first foldable from TECNO will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+. This chipset is slightly more powerful than the one in their current flagship, the Phantom X2 Pro.

The recently leaked video of the foldable smartphone shows a camera design that resembles the X2 Pro. The video also displays a side button which is expected to serve as a power button and a fingerprint scanner.

The hinge mechanism in the device can be closed completely, resulting in no gap between the two sides of the phone. This makes it different from the likes of the Fold 4 by Samsung, which has a notable gap.

Huawei has also been making similar devices, and OPPO too. They hardly have any gaps, which makes them appealing to some people.

Given the international scope of the launch, it is expected that TECNO will make the foldable available in their global markets. We also expect the device to go on sale in Kenya too because TECNO has been in this market for an extended period.
