A family in Yamumbi area, Langas ward, Uasin Gishu County, is crying for justice after their ten-year-old son was run over and killed on the spot by a truck carrying pebbles while he was on his way home to collect extra tuition money at Mwiruti Primary School.
According to witnesses, the truck –which was being driven recklessly and at high speed–ran over the head of the Class Four pupil before the driver sped off and surrendered himself at Langas Police Station.
Area residents raised concern over the rising number of accidents caused by trucks ferrying stones from the nearby quarry.
Kapseret Sub-County Police Commander Zephaniah Kamuren said investigations have commenced.
The body of the deceased has been moved to MTRH morgue as the driver of the truck recorded a statement at Langas Police Station.
