A tense standoff erupted in a Kampala, Uganda, estate after traders reportedly caught a man allegedly using his young son to solicit money by faking a serious medical condition.
The man had reportedly been telling members of the public that his child was suffering from cancer and urgently needed funds for an operation.
According to reports accompanying a video that later spread on social media, traders in the area grew suspicious and decided to confront him directly.

In the video, the child is seen with a brown object attached to part of his face and eye, crafted to resemble a tumour, with what looked like a bandage placed beneath it.
When the traders demanded that the man remove the object, he did so in front of them, and the boy’s face appeared completely normal underneath.
The revelation left the traders visibly shocked. The man’s identity, as well as whether he was subsequently arrested or faced any charges, remained unclear from the reports and footage available.
The video circulated widely online, drawing concern from viewers over the alleged use of a minor in the scheme.
