Popular Kenyan comedian Terence Creative paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Monica Waithera Chege, the woman behind the beloved Wakalucy Fish Palace brand, with a moving photo posted on his Instagram on Tuesday, September 15.
In the image, Monica was dressed in a full white chef’s uniform, complete with a hat bearing the word “Palace” and a coat emblazoned with “Wakalucy Palace.”
The image-only post carried no caption, letting the outfit speak for itself, a quiet but powerful way of honouring a woman who built a food business that captured the hearts of many Kenyans.
Who was Wakalucy? Monica Waithera Chege, widely known by her brand name Wakalucy, was the founder and driving force behind Wakalucy Fish Palace.
She passed away in September 2026 at the age of 46 following a battle with cervical cancer. Her death sent shockwaves through Kenya’s entertainment and food culture communities, where she had become a recognisable and beloved figure.
