Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has slammed the club over the ongoing turmoil at Old Trafford, insisting that off-pitch dysfunction is directly driving the team’s dismal performances on the pitch.
Contrasting times
Speaking on The Overlap podcast, Keane stated that the current state of the club is a clear reflection of their dreadful start to the season, which has seen United win just two of their opening eight competitive matches.

“That’s not the Man Utd that we knew!” Keane fumed. “We were UNITED. There was a togetherness. They’re not together. It is chaotic from top to bottom. We go on matchdays, and I just don’t like the feeling around the club.”
Keane’s scathing sentiments were echoed by his former teammate Gary Neville, who waded into the sharp criticism of the club made by Lisandro Martínez following Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League defeat against Atlético Madrid.
Neville on Martinez’s criticism
The former United right-back argued that Martínez’s public outburst regarding the club’s leadership and transfer policy ultimately reflects poorly on the squad itself.

“When Martínez says they should have brought more players in, he’s directly attacking his teammates,” Neville said. “If I was Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, or any of the other senior players, I would be absolutely fuming with him. He is basically saying that some of us should not be here.”
With four key senior figures, including skipper Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martínez, and Luke Shaw, approaching the final year of their contracts, internal tensions appear to be reaching a boiling point. Unless results improve rapidly, the dark clouds hovering over Old Trafford threaten to derail the Red Devils’ entire campaign.
