Kakamega Homeboyz FC management has intensified its search for a new head coach following the dismissal of Coach Ken Kenyatta. The club’s chairman, Cleophas Shimanyula, revealed that they have already identified a new head coach who will join them in the coming days, although he did not disclose the name of the new tactician.
“We will be announcing Ken Kenyatta’s replacement, who will take over before the end of the week. We have identified an experienced coach, and it’s just a matter of time before we unveil him,” Shimanyula stated.
Former Kenya Police and Dodoma Jiji Coach Francis Barasa is reportedly the frontrunner to succeed Kenyatta, with speculations circulating on various online sports platforms about his potential appointment.
Kenyatta was relieved of his duties due to a series of poor performances in the Kenya Premier League, having overseen just five matches in charge. Shimanyula mentioned that Kenyatta struggled to bond with the players during his tenure.
“It’s true we have parted ways with Kenyatta because the club has not been performing according to our expectations, and his relationship with some players was not good,” said Shimanyula.
Kenyatta joined Kakamega Homeboyz at the beginning of the season but was unable to secure a victory, leaving the team in 18th position on the KPL table with only two points from two draws and three losses.
