Three American philanthropists working with Child Refuge Centre International on Thursday perished in a grisly road accident along the Narok-Maasai Mara Game Reserve Highway near the Eusonyiro airstrip.

The three who have been in Narok West running nine other centres in the country were driving from Narok town westward to Mara when a head-on collision involving their personal pick-up truck and a trailer truck occurred.

They were heading to Naroosura where they run community-based health projects.

A police report from the County Commissioner’s office said two of the three were aged 61 while the other was 33 years old.

The philanthropists’ truck was taken to Narok police station while a part of the trailer, which had foreign registration plates, was still at the scene of the accident at press time.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were flown to a Nairobi hospital.
