Three suspected phone snatchers were Wednesday morning gunned down by police officers along Lusaka Road in Nairobi.
The trio was ambushed by security officers while robbing phones among other valuable items from those reporting to work at the Industrial area.
Makadara sub-county police boss Judy Kola said the suspects who were riding on a motorcycle have been a thorn in the area, a concern that compelled them to lay an ambush for the suspects.
In the process, a Ceska gun and several rounds of ammunition have been recovered.
The police chief said the suspects had on Monday robbed an Indian national of Ksh.12,000 and a gold chain before disappearing into the Mukuru slums.
Police have since processed the scene and transferred the bodies to the city mortuary.
