Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption that will affect parts of four counties on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, April 6, 2026, the utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the planned interruption.
Kenya Power indicated that several areas in the Nairobi Region will be affected. In Eastleigh, the interruption is expected from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and will affect customers along Fifth Street, Nasiye Restaurant area, Madina Guest House, Domo Plaza and surrounding neighbourhoods.
In Karen, residents and businesses will also experience a similar outage within the same hours. The affected locations include Karen Road, Karen Country Club, Karen Triangle, Grange Park, Lower Plains Road, Kared Plains Road, Karen Hospital area, Ndege Road, Marist University, Marist Lane, Ndege Lane, Morongo Road, Fana Road, Begonia Drive, Karen Plains Police Station area, Karen Technical for the Deaf and nearby customers.
In the Mount Kenya Region, parts of Nyeri County will be affected between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. The interruption will cover areas such as Mweiga Blooms, Kamatongu, General Karangi Beef Factory, Samaki, Mwireri, Honi Resort, Muthinga Restaurant and surrounding customers.
In Embu County, the power interruption will also run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The affected areas include Kirie, Kathanje, Karamabri, Kamugu Market, Itiira Market, Kadamba, Mukororai Market, Kathanje Market, Kivuebase, Gangara and Michegethio Market, as well as nearby customers.
In the North Eastern Region, parts of Kiambu County will experience outages during the same period. The affected areas include Kanunga, Ngegu, Torito, Kasphat, Ibonia, Kiamara and Kiratina, along with surrounding customers. In Kahawa Wendani, the interruption will affect areas such as Maguna supermarket, Wendani Police area, Clean Shelf, Royal Homes, Kahawa Downs, Alvo and adjacent customers.
