Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish, has said he is “astounded” by the lack of interest in Eberechi Eze during the summer transfer window.

Eze is believed to have plenty of admirers in the Premier League, but there was no concrete approach for the midfielder.

Palace were relieved to keep the 26-year-old, especially after Bayern Munich signed Michael Olise in a £50m deal earlier in the window.

“I was really worried from a club point of view of losing Michael and Ebbs in the same window and we didn’t have in Ebbs the interest that I thought we would have,” Parish told Sky Sports News.

“I was astounded. Genuinely astounded. I mean, the guy’s just an outstanding footballer, an outstanding person.”

Eze himself is understood to have a release clause around £60m in his contract.
