Manchester City midfielder, Mateo Kovacic has urged the club to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

City boss, Pep Guardiola, is interested in signing the defender in what would be a record transfer.

Kovacic has now encouraged Guardiola to buy his compatriot, who he is tipping to step up to another level in the Premier League.

“He’s ready for Man City step. He can come to City and learn and be the best version of himself. I’d obviously like it!

“I’m a good friend with Josko and he’s Croatian. It would be nice to have a Croatian by my side here,” Kovacic said.

However, despite Gvardiol being Guardiola’s primary target this summer, Man City seems hesitant to meet Leipzig’s £85 million asking price for the 21-year-old defender.
