Police officers seized 12 sacks of bhang being transported on five motorbikes in Isebania, Migori County. According to a report on Thursday, June 13, 2024, all suspects escaped during the incident on Wednesday, June 12.

A police report indicated that officers from Isebania Police Station received information about a known drug trafficker, Joseph Sabora, and his team transporting the bhang from Tanzania to Kenya via the Nyametaburo feeder road.

Additionally, there was information about a white Toyota Prado, registration number KDG 800P, set to transport the bhang after delivery by the motorbikes.

The police laid an ambush along the suspected route. The officers saw five motorbikes approaching from Tanzania carrying the 12 sacks of bhang. However, the suspects stopped about 200 meters away from the ambush site and began offloading the bhang to load into the waiting vehicle.

When the suspects noticed the approaching officers, they fled on foot, leaving behind the motorbikes and the bhang. The motor vehicle KDG 800P also drove off before loading any sacks.

Police recovered five motorbikes: a black TMC616 DRC, two numberless King Bossi, a black KMGC 232Z Boxer, and a black KMDN 193Q Boxer, along with the 12 sacks of bhang, which weighed approximately 600 kg with a street value of Ksh 18 million.
