In the first case, a 60-year-old man identified as David Ndegwa Mwangi was arrested by officers from the Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) at DCI Headquarters over the alleged fraudulent procurement of land titles for three prime plots in the exclusive Countryside Villa Estate along Muthaiga Drive. Each of the parcels is valued at approximately Ksh.45 million.
According to investigators, the rightful owner reported that Mwangi, in collaboration with accomplices still at large, attempted to forcibly claim the properties. The suspects are said to have physically visited the land and asserted ownership using suspected fake documents, despite the complainant holding authentic title deeds.
Following investigations, the case file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which approved charges of fraudulent procurement of title against Mwangi and his accomplices. He remains in custody pending arraignment, as detectives pursue the remaining suspects
In a separate incident, detectives arrested Abdul Hassan Tahalil, a director of Skyline Works Ltd, over allegations of making false documents in a scheme to unlawfully acquire a parcel of land valued at Sh25 million in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The complainant told investigators that she purchased the property located in Section One, 4th Street, in December 1966 for Sh56,000, but has recently faced persistent attempts by fraudsters, including Tahalil, to seize it.
Investigations uncovered what detectives described as a coordinated effort involving the company and its directors to generate fraudulent documentation to support the claim. The case file was subsequently submitted to the ODPP, which sanctioned charges of making false documents against Tahalil.
He has since been taken into custody and is undergoing processing ahead of his court appearance.
