Two killed in accident on Rongo-Awendo highway in Migori

Two people died while two others sustained injuries following an accident that involved two private vehicles at Rakwaro area on Rongo-Awendo highway in Migori County.

Eye witnesses indicated that the vehicle that carried the now deceased and the two injured was moving from Awendo towards Rongo General direction when it collided head on with another vehicle that was moving from the opposite direction.

A police report on the Thursday evening accident indicates that the driver of the vehicle that was moving towards Rongo General direction was trying to overtake a motorcycle when the vehicle rammed into on the oncoming vehicle.

Police indicates that two people who are all women died on the spot while two other passengers who were in the same ill – fated vehicle sustained serious injuries.

The two who sustained injuries were rushed to Rongo Sub-county Hospital for treatment before they were referred to Migori Referral Hospital.

The bodies have been moved to Rosewood pending police investigation.
