A Ugandan national who is alleged to have killed his employer at Kombo-ini village in Kirinyaga County has been arrested.
According to Kirinyaga County Investigation Officer Jason Mworia, detectives have been looking for him since November 3, 2023, when he was reported to have killed a 64-year-old woman who had employed him as a Shamba Boy.
Mworia said Phillipino Muifi was arrested by detectives in Nakuru after pursuit for several months.
Muifi is being held at Kiamaciri police station in the Mwea-West sub-county and is expected to be taken to court and charged with murder after hiding for over seven months. Police say he escaped with the deceased’s phone which was found at his aunt’s house in Nairobi.
Mworia says detectives arrested the suspect’s aunt who promised to cooperate in unearthing the whereabouts of Muifi.
“After taking her to court we were allowed to hold her as we went on with investigation and she was able to convince him to come back to Kenya promising him a job where he was nabbed at Nakuru,” Mworia said.
The Ugandan farm worker is accused of killing his boss Rose Muthoni Kariuki where her body was discovered by her neighbour who immediately informed the authorities.
Police are still holding the suspect’s aunt who might be a state witness.
Muthoni had lived at Kombo-ini village for over five years.
