The reported value of Wicknell Chivayo’s estate has sparked fresh questions about the wealth the Zimbabwean businessman left behind following his death.

Chivayo died on September 30, 2026, alongside his wife, Lucy, in a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe.

According to The Herald Zimbabwe, his estate remains caught up in a legal dispute following his death. The matter was linked to a US$25 million matrimonial and asset division case (about KSh3.24 billion) brought by his former wife, Sonja Madzikanda.

Chivayo’s lawyer, Advocate Sylvester Hashiti, confirmed that a Supreme Court appeal connected to the case had been removed from the court roll following his death.

Wicknell Chivayo’s reported estate value

The reported US$25 million (about KSh3.24 billion) figure quickly became a major talking point online, with many people comparing it with the extravagant lifestyle Chivayo displayed during his lifetime.

The reported figure is equivalent to approximately R416 million (about KSh53.5 million). Chivayo was known for his lavish spending and was reportedly associated with several luxury vehicles and aircraft.

He reportedly donated vehicles worth more than R800 million (about KSh102.9 million), while his reported assets included a Gulfstream private jet, three helicopters, seven Rolls-Royces, a Bentley and a Maybach.

He was also reported to have owned properties in Cape Town, Eswatini and England.

For people who had followed his lifestyle, the reported estate value raised questions about how the assets and spending associated with Chivayo could fit within an estate valued at about US$25 million.

Social media users question Chivayo’s wealth

The reported estate figure triggered a wave of reactions on X, with some users questioning the source and scale of Chivayo’s wealth.

“How does a man with a $25m net worth donate $50m worth of vehicles? What income allows a person sufficient money to give away $50m? How much tax was remitted on that income? Until we answer those questions we can’t call ourselves a serious country.”

The US$50 million (about KSh6.49 billion) figure mentioned by the user was part of their argument about Chivayo’s reported donations.

Another user, @Mfulomkhulu2, questioned the difference between Chivayo’s public image and the reported estate figure:

“You said he is a billionaire now he is now a mere 25 million fortune late sir.”

Meanwhile, @NathiJiba asked:

“Exactly what business in terms of products or services did Wicknell do? What was his source of revenue?”

Another commenter, @Funkyleroy, questioned how the reported value could account for Chivayo’s luxury assets.

They wrote:

“Nonsense. Poppycock! Maybe it’s true that Sir was just a distributor. Otherwise, how does a Gulfstream jet, 3 helicopters, 7 Rolls-Royces, a Bentley, a Maybach, a $5m house in Cape Town, a $2m in Eswatini, a $1m house in England and the Gletwyn house + cash in the bank be $25m only?”

The property figures mentioned in the comment would translate to roughly US$5 million (KSh648.6 million) for the Cape Town property, US$2 million (KSh259.4 million) for the Eswatini property and US$1 million (KSh129.7 million) for the England property, based on the October 3 exchange rate.

Another user, @Tactico_24, summed up the confusion by writing:

Questions remain over the reported estate

The reactions reflect public uncertainty over the relationship between Chivayo’s reported estate value, his luxury lifestyle and claims about the money he spent or gave away during his lifetime.

However, the social media comments represent individual users’ questions and interpretations, rather than independent confirmation of the full value of Chivayo’s assets or the source of his wealth.

The reported US$25 million estate (about KSh3.24 billion) has therefore become another point of discussion following the death of the Zimbabwean businessman, whose lavish lifestyle had attracted significant public attention.
