A man from Sunton in the Kasarani area of Nairobi is on the run after allegedly killing his girlfriend, with well-wishers pooling together KSh 70,000 to help locate him and bring him to justice.

Nelson Ambia is wanted in connection with the alleged murder of Feruz Hussein, whom he reportedly killed at his home following a domestic dispute. The matter was reported at Sunton Police Station, Kasarani Sub-County, on September 30, 2026.

Family Turns to Sonko for Help

Feruz’s family, gripped by grief and fear, turned to former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko seeking assistance in tracking down the suspect. Sonko responded by pledging KSh 50,000 to anyone whose credible tip leads directly to Nelson’s arrest.

“I am offering KSh 50,000 to anyone whose credible information leads to his arrest. If you know his whereabouts, report immediately to the nearest police station. Do not confront him,” Sonko said.

A second well-wisher, Mustapha Konvict, separately offered KSh 20,000 for information that helps locate the suspect, bringing the combined reward to KSh 70,000.

Nelson allegedly filmed the disturbing incident and sent the video to Feruz’s grieving family. He has since reportedly made chilling threats against her younger siblings, Shadia, 19, and Malik, 15.

The deceased woman’s father described the anguish his family is enduring since receiving those threats.

“He said he will kill Feruz’s younger siblings noting that he has weapons to help him to do so and has men on the ground watching my family. He has also called my daughter Shadia to threaten her,” the grieving man said.

The family says Nelson’s threats have left them paralysed with fear, afraid to go about their daily lives. The suspect was reportedly spotted in Kakamega County after he disappeared from Nairobi.

Police are urging members of the public with any information on Nelson Ambia’s whereabouts to report it immediately to the nearest police station rather than attempt to approach him directly.
