Zimbabwean businessman and socialite Wicknell Chivayo has turned heads once again with an extraordinarily generous gesture, announcing that he’s gifted Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) a 2026 Rolls-Royce Cullinan facelift and KSh 32 million in cash to mark the clergyman’s birthday.

Chivayo, known for his flamboyant displays of wealth, made the announcement publicly, framing the gifts as a heartfelt tribute to decades of dedicated Christian service by the bishop.

Why did Chivayo gift Bishop Nehemaiah?

In his announcement, Chivayo described Bishop Mutendi as a man of wisdom, humility and discipline who has spent his life leading and serving the ZCC faithfully.

He argued that religious leaders deserve recognition and appreciation while they are still alive, rather than being celebrated only after they pass on.

“Religious leaders should be appreciated while they are alive, rather than only being honoured after they die,” Chivayo said, explaining the motivation behind the extravagant gesture.

He framed the gifts not as a spectacle but as a personal expression of gratitude for the bishop’s years of service to God and the church community.

He also took the opportunity to request that Bishop Mutendi continue interceding in prayer for Zimbabwe, its leadership, families and children, and closed his tribute by wishing the bishop good health, strength, wisdom and many more years of ministry.

The centrepiece of the birthday surprise is a brand-new 2026 Rolls-Royce Cullinan facelift, one of the most exclusive SUVs on the market, valued at approximately KSh 140 million.

To accompany the luxury vehicle, Chivayo announced an additional US$250,000 in cash, equivalent to roughly KSh 32 million.

In characteristic fashion, he referred to the cash sum as “petty cash for fuel and personal use,” a description that underlines just how casually he approaches figures that most people would consider life-changing sums of money.

The announcement is the latest in a series of high-profile gift-giving moments from Chivayo, who has built a reputation in Zimbabwe and beyond for his lavish public gestures.
