Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim has been appointed as the Deputy Party Leader of Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party, succeeding Nominated Senator Shakila Abdallah, who takes over from Judith Sijeny as Secretary General.

Maalim’s return to the party comes just two months after he was expelled for making inflammatory remarks in his native Somali dialect. In a viral undated video, he implied that if he were the President of Kenya, he would have “slaughtered 5,000 Gen Z protesters” during the recent anti-Finance Bill 2024 demonstrations.

In addition to these changes, Anne Kanyi has been named Wiper’s Deputy National Chairperson, according to a gazette notice dated October 4, 2024. Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. and Victor Swanya Ogeto have also been appointed Deputy National Chairpersons of the Wiper Party.

Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako Mwakuwona will serve as Deputy Secretary-Generals. Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has been appointed as the party’s Treasurer, with Kilome counterpart Thuddeus Nzambia and Mohammed Zakirhusein Lukmanji as his deputies.

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui will assume the role of Organizing Secretary for Wiper, supported by deputies Jessica Nduku Mbalu (MP, Kibwezi East) and Muriuki Ndwiga. Nominated Nairobi MCA Jane Muasya and Borabu MP Ben Momanyi have both been appointed Deputy Directors of Elections, with Momanyi succeeding David Lokia.

Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo and Majala Mlagui have been appointed as the Chairpersons of the Wiper Women Democrats League and the Young Wiper Democrats League, respectively. Garissa Woman Representative Shukran Hussein Gure takes over as the Wiper Secretary for Resource Mobilization from former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu.

Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu has been named Secretary for Devolution, Planning, Finance, and Vision 2030, while Fredrick Papa Okademi will serve as Secretary for Regional Health. Matungulu MP Stephen Mule will be the Secretary for Health, and Wajir MCA Dahaba Yusuf Farah has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Minorities and Marginalized League.

Omar Twaha Jaabu, Sammy Seroney, and Hellen Ndeti have been appointed as the Secretaries for Religious Affairs, Political Affairs, and Diaspora, respectively.
