Woman charged over Ksh.200,000 Denmark job scam

A woman has been charged with obtaining Ksh.200,000 from a man after allegedly falsely promising to help him secure a job in Denmark.

The accused, Leah Wanjiku, appeared before Nairobi Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai and denied a charge of obtaining money by false pretences.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the court heard that Wanjiku obtained the money from Alexander Kyalo Peter after allegedly pretending that she could assist him secure employment in Denmark, a claim she allegedly knew to be false.

The alleged offence took place on September 30, 2025, at Absa Towers along Loita Street in Nairobi, after which the DPP subsequently approved the charges against Wanjiku following investigations into the alleged job scam.

Wanjiku was released on a Ksh.100,000 bond pending the hearing of the case.

The matter will be mentioned on September 22, 2026, for pre-trial directions.
